Famine to Feast: Great Bear Opens to Huge Crowds [PICS]
Sioux Falls hasn't had much more than traces of snow this winter.
But that all changed when a Winter Storm showed up over the weekend of 2024 and delivered more than enough of the white powder to appease snowboard and skiing enthusiasts.
Great Bear Ski Resort Opens With Snow
Fully staffed and ready to rock, Great Bear Ski Resort, just outside Sioux Falls, opened Monday afternoon to long lines as winter sports fans were more than ready to hit the slopes.
Great Bear General Manager Dan Grider said, "We went from famine to feast" as mother nature packed a much-needed snowy punch and drew large crowds on Monday.
Most area schools cancelled classes on Monday which also helped fuel the throngs of snow lovers.
Not all of the trails were open but the weather is looking colder and more like winter so it won't be long.
As for the tubing hill, the Great Bear website has a target opening date of January 19.
