After a summer filled with detours and traffic delays in Southern Sioux Falls, drivers are now returning to their normal commutes.

The city has reopened the intersection at 85th Street and Cliff Avenue, which had been closed for much of the summer while crews completely reconstructed the intersection and added a center median, turn lanes, sidewalks, streetlights, and landscaping.

Once the project is complete in mid-October a traffic signal will be added to the intersection.

The timing of the reopening was crucial with the new Harrisburg Freshman Academy nearby. The school begins classes Thursday (August 24).

The overall cost of the project is $4.15 million.
