A Minnesota Man Holds One of the Most Unbelievable World Records
It takes a lot to score yourself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
For nearly 70 years, people from all over the globe have done all sorts of things to try and land their moment of notoriety by doing something bigger, faster, or longer than anyone else ever before.
Since it first hit bookstores in 1955, Guinness has amassed 53,000 record-setting categories, including quite a few off-the-wall milestones.
Recently, 24/7 Wall St. did a deep dive into those record-breaking feats and picked out 27 of the Most Unbelievable World Records Ever Set.
A Minnesota man who entered the hollowed Guinness ground in 2021 made the elite list.
His name is Joseph Grisamore and he lives in the North Central Minnesota city of Park Rapids.
You can't miss him.
He's the guy sporting the tallest mohawk spike on the planet.
It measured 4 feet and 2 inches back in April 2021.
That decision to go for the record was 14 years in the making.
Joseph wanted to do it in 2007 but he balked when he was told that he had to shave the sides of his hair to qualify for the record.
But he's not one to rest on his laurels. Joseph told the Guinness folks:
'I’m honored to be added to a list of one-of-a-kind record holders. My wife wants me to stay humble, but instead, I’m considering becoming the ‘Mohawk King'...'
Joesph's record made the 'unbelievable list' right alongside things like:
- Largest synchronized lottery card scratching (479 people)
- Largest balloon sculpture by an individual (72 feet wide and nearly 37 feet tall)
- Largest rolling luggage bag (5 feet, 9 inches in height; 3 feet, 9.3 inches in width; and 1 foot, 6.1 inches in depth)
- Longest continuous note on a wind instrument (1 minute and 13.38 seconds)
- Biggest condom (10,726 feet 6 inches)
- Heaviest onion (18 pounds, 11.84 ounces)
