Man Has Car Stolen at Gunpoint in Garage in Western Sioux Falls
As the colder winter months approach, here's something every resident in the Sioux Empire should be mindful of, always be cognizant of your surroundings, because no corner of the city should be considered safe.
The perfect example of this occurred early Saturday morning (November 18) when a man in western Sioux Falls was attempting to allow his vehicle to warm up in his own open garage when two men stole the vehicle out from underneath him at gunpoint.
Dakota News Now reports the victim had his car parked inside his garage around 4:30 that morning in the 900 block of South Willow Meadows Place when the incident happened. The police report states that while the victim was allowing his vehicle to warm up inside the garage, two men approached him, one of the suspects produced a gun, pointed it at the victim, and stole his vehicle.
According to Dakota News Now, the victim immediately notified police. Authorities were able to locate the stolen car, and a police pursuit ensued. However, police were unsuccessful in getting the stolen vehicle stopped and the suspects apprehended.
Later that day, the stolen vehicle was spotted once again, this time parked, but the suspects were nowhere to be found once authorities located the vehicle for a second time.
Dakota News Now reports that police returned the stolen vehicle to the victim.
The report also states the victim in the case claims to have had no previous knowledge of the two suspects involved.
