Could The Chicago Bears Call Iowa Home Someday?
A group of Iowa Republican state senators is tossing up what might be the boldest Hail Mary pass political lawmakers and NFL fans alike have ever seen.
According to Dakota News Now, these lawmakers are floating the idea of luring the historic Chicago Bears franchise out of Illinois and into the Hawkeye State.
Yep, they've set their sights on Da Bears!

The Bears have called the Windy City home since 1921. The team has a long-standing history of surviving blizzards, bad quarterbacking, and assorted heartbreak on the gridiron. But through it all, there have always been decades of passionate fans who still treat game day like a sacred holiday. Even with such a loyal fanbase and all that storied history, the franchise still feels underappreciated at times.
It's true, not everything has been sunshine and touchdowns between the Bears and Chicago lately. Team leadership has occasionally hinted they wouldn’t mind finding a location that rolls out a warmer welcome, or at least a newer stadium. Enter Iowa State Senator Kerry Gruenhagen of Walcott, who’s helping spearhead the effort. She believes Iowa is more than ready for an NFL team and says landing a franchise could boost tourism, create jobs, and show off everything the state has to offer. You know, like, cornfields, casseroles, and Cover-2 defenses!
Of course, Iowa isn’t the only place trying to woo the Bears. Suburban Arlington Heights, Illinois, and even Gary, Indiana, have supporters eager to build shiny new stadiums if it means snagging the team. And when billion-dollar franchises start shopping for new homes, it usually comes down to one thing: money. Lots of it. Chicago’s metro population alone tops 9 million people, nearly 20 times the size of the Quad Cities region, so the math isn’t exactly in Iowa’s favor.

Still, you’ve got to admire their optimism. A man's got to have a dream, right? Who knows, maybe someday Iowa will land an NFL team?
But I'd say right now, their chances of making this a reality are about as good as the Miami Dolphins winning the next three consecutive Super Bowls. Like that's ever gonna happen! (Sorry, as a tortured Dolphins fan, I couldn't resist.)
