WalletHub crunched the numbers as to which states are best for women and the findings are interesting, to say the least.

The folks at WalletHub used 25 different key indicators including things like living standards, education rates, median earnings for females, healthcare rates, unemployment, as well as rape and homicide rates.

They took all these factors and then compared them amongst the 50 states and DC.

The #1 state for women is...Massachusetts. The worst state is Oklahoma.

In our neck of the woods, South Dakota ranked #25, Minnesota was #2, Iowa was #8, North Dakota was #22, Nebraska is #24.

WalletHub also broke down its findings into subcategories. For example, the District of Columbia was the state with the highest median earnings for women when adjusted for cost of living and California ranked last. Minnesota was second best.

South Dakota and North Dakota tied for states with the lowest unemployment rates for women. Whereas, Nevada was the highest.

Hawaii has the most women-owned businesses and South Dakota has the least.

Nebraska and Wisconsin tied for the highest high school graduation rate among females. Nevada has the worst graduation rate.

Not too surprising here, but the District of Columbia had the highest percentage of women that voted in the 2020 election. West Virginia had the lowest.

Massachusetts has the lowest uninsured female rate and Texas has the most.

The state with the lowest female homicide rate per 100,000 females is Hawaii. Iowa was second. New Mexico and Alaska tied for the highest homicide rate.

Not to get too political, but states that voted Blue in the last election all averaged higher than Red states. Meaning, Blue states are more women-friendly.

From Frybread to Pheasants - Here are South Dakota's Official State Things

Every state in our nation has chosen things that represent the state in one way or another to be official state things. Like a flower, or animal. South Dakota is no different.

The Mount Rushmore has a state flower. But did you know we also have a state tree and a state fish? Yes, we even have a state code.

Here is what we have so far in Wyoming. Thanks to the South Dakota Secretary of State's Office for the info:
