Iowa is Set to Get Pummeled By Series of Winter Storms
As we roll into mid-February, this winter has been one of the mildest on record in the Hawkeye State. However, that will soon change, as a series of winter storms will be hitting the state of Iowa in the next few days.

Between 5-8 Inches
Parts of central and eastern Iowa will be experiencing light to moderate snowfall around midnight tonight, with a northeast wind between 5-15 mph. Roads will continue to deteriorate throughout the overnight hours. For Wednesday, snow will become heavier, with another 6-9 inches possible. Winds will also pick up, gusting to 25 mph, making travel conditions difficult.
Here's what the National Weather Service has to say about Iowa's first major snowstorm of the winter season:
What seems like the first widespread, significant snowfall of the season is finally here in February for much of the state. Snow is expected to begin toward midnight tonight over far western Iowa spreading into central and eastern Iowa after midnight. While snow is expected statewide, the highest snow accumulations will be over southern into portions of central Iowa with 5 to 8 inches expected. Snow covered and slick roads should be expected and create for hazardous travel. Snow rates will generally be a quarter to half an inch per hour, though there will be a few periods where rates will be half an inch to three-quarters of an inch per hour. While visibility will be reduced in falling snow, blowing snow will not be a significant issue with wind speeds averaging 10 to 15 mph. The snow will taper off from west to east late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. -National Weather Service via KWWL
