Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a fire at 3321 N. 9th Avenue in Sioux Falls on Saturday (December 16) at around 3:30 PM.

Battalion Chief Steve Brunette described the scene as fire crews arrived: "The first arriving truck reported seeing fire and smoke on approach Crews found heavy fire in the garage and encountered light fire and heavy smoke damage throughout the structure."

A search of the home revealed no one was inside and the fire was out within 20 minutes of arrival. Potential hot spots were monitored to ensure no further fires ignited. In addition to fire damage, there was extensive smoke damage.

The Red Cross was notified and offered assistance to the residents.

Inspector Tjeerdsma is leading the continued inspection of the fire.
