It seems like there has been a case of deja vu going around at the Helpline Center in recent weeks. The need for volunteers in certain areas remains consistently strong with very little wavering from basic needs during this extraordinary time in all of our lives.

With that in mind, and with the knowledge that there are many more opportunities to serve the community through the Helpline Center, here is the call for volunteers going out this week:

  • Sioux Falls Food Distribution - This collaborative effort between the Helpline Center, Feeding South Dakota, Faith Temple Food Giveaway, Corona Help Sioux Falls, and the Salvation Army, is meant to provide food to hungry families in the Sioux Empire. Volunteers are needed every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 AM to 8 PM at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
  • Faith Temple Food Giveaway - Every Friday at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds from 2:30 to 6:30, people who can carry at least 30 pounds are needed to pack food boxes and put them in people's vehicles
  • The Banquet - Due to the opening of their second location, the Banquet needs volunteers to serve guests, more than ever. You can serve as an individual or join the Banquet Angels text service by texting Angels to 605-413-1971 or sign up on The Banquet Genius link.
  • Helpline Center/Make/Donate Cloth Masks - The Helpline Center has coordinated a list of organizations in need of masks with the ability to sign up with whichever group you would like to help.

For more information on these volunteer opportunities, or if you need help, call 211, see the Helpline Center online, or on Facebook.
