Good News! Passionate Iowa Park Ranger Gets His ‘Dream Job’ Back
Like many federal employees across South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota, around 1,000 National Park Services workers lost their jobs in February due to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) operation to cut federal spending. Now for one Iowa Park Ranger, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Iowa Park Ranger Brian Gibbs once shared an emotional message about losing his "dream job." Now, he's excited to say that he is returning to his job at Effigy Mounds National Monument.

It's been a rollercoaster for this Iowa Park Ranger, and unfortunately, Brian Gibbs is not off this wild ride yet. His position is still in question. Brian could have his job taken away again.
Although Brian Gibbs' "unlawful termination has been rescinded," there is a chance he might lose his position for the second time. It's heartbreaking for the Iowa Park Ranger. For now, Brian is just grateful for the support he's received over the last month.
With plans for wide-scale reductions in force throughout the government, there is a possibility my position will get cut again soon. Despite this uncertainty, I am committed to staying in the present moment, continuing to serve the American public as a National Park Service Ranger to the best of my abilities as long as I am authorized to.
