Many people love the month of February, and it's not because we're one month closer to spring, the real reason why so many people look forward each year to February is because it's the official start to Girl Scout Cookie season.

The Girl Scouts are going to be at it again, as they start to sell their different varieties of cookies available beginning on Friday, (February 3).

Thin Mints, Caramel DeLites, and Peanut Butter Patties are still the three biggies when it comes to sales and consistently available.

The girls are rolling out two new cookies flavors this year, the S'more cookie, a crunchy graham sandwich cookie filled with creamy chocolate and marshmallow filling, and the Toffee-Tastic, a gluten-free cookie.

But before the girls can start selling all those delicious cookies to you and me, a little groundwork needs to take place behind the scenes.

KSFY TV is reporting that 195,000 cookies are being delivered to Sioux Falls alone. Volunteers have been busy unloading pallets for days.

According to Dakota Horizons 'Cookie Boss' Joy Johnson, "It's a girl-led business. Every year they sell more and more. They're the ones in charge. They set their goals, make decisions and move forward with their sale."

To help mark the 100th year of Girl Scout Cookie sales, the girls are also going digital in 2017. Johnson says, "They'll go online to set up their own site. They'll have a link to cookies, and send it to friends and families."

Not all cookie varieties are available in every region. To find out which Girl Scout Cookies are available in the Sioux Falls area, you'll need to visit the Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons website.
