Danny and Dorine Bennett of Madison are living proof that there are great people in the world.

Recently the Bennetts invited us to their ranch so that our daughter Jenna could ride their Appaloosa, Icons Tequila Mana, who they affectionately just call Curly.

To our daughter she was riding a beautiful horse, not knowing Curly was named 2014 World's Best at the Appaloosa World's Best Championship in Texas.

A few darker clouds swirled into the Madison area, the winds picked up but the rains held off until I was able to witness for the first time my daughter doing something she loves: flying through a lush green pasture on a horse. We made it back to the stables just in time for the rain to pour down.

Danny has the honor of being named the year 2000 South Dakota horse person of the year from the South Dakota Horse Council. He was riding along side Jenna on Curly's sister, Hollywood Rita, the 2015 Reserve Worlds Best.

The Bennetts offered to take Curly and Holywood Rita in the trailer to Lake County 4H grounds where Jenna could join other kids for training.

I'm new to all things horses but am learning from my daughter. Although it's an everyday occurance for those with horses, I find it amazing to see a man easily lead a horse into a trailer as they line up inside and peek out the trailer windows while in transit.

We met many 4H families and were welcomed by the crew. They encouraged Jenna within their group.

The Bennetts certainly believe in mentoring and inspiring young riders like our daughter and we are grateful.

Neither my husband or I have had a connection to horses in the past, so her passion purely is how God made her. There is something spiritual that happens in watching your child do something they love.

As we enjoyed a late dinner with the Bennett's to wrap up our time together, I am grateful for the connection and new friendship formed, all over the love of a horse.
