Busy Sioux Falls Street To Temporarily Close This Week
Traveling around Sioux Falls might be a little tricky when the weekend rolls around, especially if you like spending time at this popular park.
Beginning Thursday, July 20th at 6 AM, East 24th Street will be closed for at least two days. Specifically, the entranceway to Riverdale Park will be blocked off to allow street crews "to perform underground utility upgrade."
In a recent press release from the City of Sioux Falls, the Engineering Division is urging drivers "to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes." There is a detour route for Sioux Falls residents that still want to visit Riverdale Park! City officials are recommending drivers enter the park through Cameo Way. It's just off South Riverdale Road. East 24th Street should re-open to drivers after Saturday, July 22nd.
In South Dakota, we always say there are five seasons throughout the year: Fall, winter, spring, summer...and construction season. There are only so many months in a year when Sioux Falls street crews can actually get on the roads to complete construction projects and maintenance work.
Did you know that the City of Sioux Falls actually has a website to stay up to date with the latest street construction projects? Well...they do! It's a helpful resource to check in on all the latest street conditions in the Sioux Falls area. Working on the roads in the summer when it's hot outside is tough. We can never thank Sioux Falls street crews enough for all their hard work!
