The Helpline Center, along with MetaBank, congratulates Larry Petersen on being named the April 2017 Volunteer of the Month.

Larry has been volunteering at Avera Prince of Peace for over two years. In his time there, he has clocked well over 300 hours.

Larry comes in every Tuesday afternoon and hosts a Men’s Club. The club consists of about a dozen men who come out of their apartments to play cards and visit.

Not only does Larry host the weekly group, but he also hosts a monthly Men's Lunch outing where he finds a restaurant that the group would like to eat at.

Tessa Curry works at Avera Prince of Peace.

“Larry deserves to be selected as volunteer of the month because he continues to amaze not only the residents but also the staff here at Prince of Peace. He goes out of his way to ensure that each and every resident is being included. Larry has created a family within this group of men. It’s very special to see.”

The Helpline Center and MetaBank are pleased to present Larry with a framed certificate, a gift from MetaBank and a letter of appreciation from Mayor Huether.

Larry will also be honored again at the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards banquet on May 11, 2017 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
