7 Out-Of-School Programs in South Dakota Getting Grants

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Seven South Dakota groups offering out-of-school activities for students are getting annual grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000.

Officials say the 21st Century Community Learning Center grants provide funding for academic enrichment opportunities for students. This year's grant recipients join 36 others already serving 65 sites across South Dakota.

School districts, community-based organizations and faith-based organizations are eligible. Projects are funded for a period of five years based upon successful implementation and annual reviews.

This year's recipients are Black Hills Special Services Cooperative in Rapid City, Boys and Girls Club of Rosebud, Health Education and Promotion Council in Rapid City, Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, Volunteers of America, Dakotas — STARS in Sioux Falls, YMCA of Rapid City, and Youth and Family Services in Rapid City.
