Who Is Lauren Daigle, Reba McEntire’s ACM Awards Duet Partner?
Reba McEntire teamed up with Christian artist Lauren Daigle for her performance of “Back to God" at the 2017 ACM Awards, and after hearing her stunning vocals, many country fans may be wondering: who is she again?
Daigle has been an up-and-comer in the Christian music industry for the last couple of years and has quickly become one of the most talked-about artists in the genre. She’s already earned two Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Christian Album for her debut record How Can It Be and Best Contemporary Christian song for “Trust in You.” She’s also been honored with a Billboard Music Award for Top Contemporary Christian Album and a Dove Award for Artist of the Year. She recently headlined a sold-out tour and has appeared on several national TV shows like TODAY and Good Morning America.
The singer-songwriter has a soft spot in her heart for country music and was thrilled to be a part of the ACM Awards alongside such an iconic artist like McEntire.
“I grew up listening to country music with my dad on the way to school. It is such a full circle moment to now be singing ’Back to God’ with Reba on the ACM Awards!" Daigle says. "This opportunity offers a new platform to share hope and redemption, and I’m excited for us to collaborate in showing the world His unconditional love."
The duo brought a poignant moment to the ceremony, performing with genuine conviction and joy. Daigle’s voice was a perfect complement to McEntire’s, totally holding her own alongside the country legend. Even artists in the audience like Carrie Underwood were getting emotional watching the women perform the heartfelt ballad.
McEntire recently released a new gospel record titled Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope, from which "Back to God" is the lead single. Daigle’s album How Can It Be is available on iTunes, and she’s busy touring throughout the spring, for which fans can find dates on her website.
