It seems to me that the human contact is now via email. Nobody wants to talk to each other anymore.

Remember when it was a big deal to promise mom you would write? Now she may be happier if you didn't write, but instead called her.

On my birthday, my sister sent me an email wishing me a happy birthday. That one made me ask myself, 'What in the hell has this world come to?'

The answer is simple. It has come to emailing. And more so reading incoming email.

As a matter of fact, too much reading email. Want to save as much as an hour a day? Here's an easy way: Stop checking your e-mail so much.

On average, employees check their email 74 times a day. Assuming you sleep at least six hours, that's about four times an hour or once every 15 minutes.

We are swamped with email inboxes that just keep growing larger and larger. We have caused it to get out of control. Cut back on your time and frequency of checking your email.

I'm not saying to ignore it. I'm saying do it regularly at much less frequent intervals. Leave it alone in between times and live your life.

And while you're at it, get some work done. Also treat yourself to looking around at the beautiful world instead of the screen on your Smartphone. It's smart alright, it's smarter than you are because you're letting it control you.

If you don't agree with me, please don't 'shoot me an email'!
