US Bank Stadium Is Really a Death Trap for Birds
Remember when there was an uproar about how US Bank Stadium's design would lead to many birds dying? Apparently that is true.
When US Bank Stadium was in the process of being built, the Audubon Society called the stadium a "death trap." The Audubon Society and the Minnesota Sports Facility Authority said that they would monitor the situation.
Now that the stadium is up and running, the new venue has apparently lived up to the Audubon Society's worries.
CityPages reports that during a first monitoring timeframe, 60 birds were found dead after running into the shiny stadium. They also say that the flight plan ("Mississippi Flyway") for birds goes right through where US Bank Stadium sits. Approximately 500 birds are projected to die, according to the study, over three years.
The report also says that the study will continue until 2019.
