Think Prices Are High in Sioux Falls Grocery Stores Now, Just Wait!
The way food prices in Sioux Falls are rising these days you could easily have a panic attack just thinking about grocery shopping. Much less the actual feeling you get once you see the final price at the register.
It's not too hard to drop well over $100.00, and I mean well over $100.00 on a small cart of items for just a two-person family. I can't imagine what people are having to pay to feed a large family!
If you had to pick one, in your opinion, what is a more anxiety-filled moment in your life right now, buying gas or buying groceries?
There's no denying that inflation is really putting the hurt bag on almost everyone. And if you're counting on some kind of relief the next time you walk into your favorite Sioux Falls grocery store, don't get your hopes up. Unfortunately, things are expected to get worse before they get any better.
According to Dakota News Now, the USDA just predicted that food prices are expected to rise an additional 4.5 to 5% this year. And that's on top of the 9% they've already risen so far in 2022.
You're not only going to feel those skyrocketing food prices in aisles 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, pick an aisle, any aisle, you're also going to be paying even more very soon in restaurants as food prices continue to rise.
Welcome to the nasty domino effect that is inflation.
Dakota News Now is reporting that restaurant prices are forecasted to increase even greater, perhaps up to 6.5%. When restaurants have to pay more for the cost of food and supplies, so do you and I.
Circling back to the prices at grocery stores, I guess the public is expected to see the most significant increase on things like beef and veal in the coming months. Both of those could rise as much as 7% throughout the rest of the year.
And if it's not one thing, it's another, now experts are saying Avian flu is expected to hike up the prices of chicken products nearly as much as beef.
There is a little bit of good news in terms of relief at the grocery store, when you visit the fresh produce aisle at say Hy-vee, Fareway, Sunshine, or any other favorite Sioux Empire grocery store, you can count on seeing the smallest increase on current prices on fresh vegetables.
Looks like it's time to start learning how to love broccoli.
