By design the finely manicured greens of the Spring Creek Country Club golf course will eventually give way to prairie grass and native flowers.

Officials announced today that they are selling the course but the transfer won't take place for ten more years.

Spring Creek Country Club President, Mark Buehler, announced this morning that they are selling the course to South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation. "It's like letting your child go."  He's had the course for 25 years.

The course will  be turned over to Good Earth State Park. "The over riding winning factor though was that this will always be a part of the public. my Grandkid's Grandkids can come out here and that's the biggest thing."

Project Chairman Jeff Scherschligt looks forward to the changes. "It's such a beautiful property and it really when you're dealing with buying land and accumulating land for a state park you know this is for good, forever and this is just a real critical piece, so we're excited."

KDLT news says the country club housing will stay.

Eventually the state park plans to have a 12 mile hiking trail... starting from the north side of the park going through Spring Creek and ending at Lake Alvin.
