Legal Fighting Continues Between John Fogerty, Creedence Clearwater Revival Ex-Bandmates
(AP) - The members of Creedence Clearwater Revisited are responding to John Fogerty's response to their lawsuit against them.
Bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford say in a statement they have never objected to Fogerty performing any song he ever wrote or any song recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival. They say Fogerty's lawyers have repeatedly threatened them with lawsuits, so they felt they had little recourse except to sue Fogerty.
Their dispute is a complicated one that has been going on for years and has to do with the use of the name "Creedence Clearwater Revival." Cook, Clifford and the widow of guitarist Tom Fogerty say John Fogerty is not honoring their agreement over the name.
John Fogerty had said earlier this week, "No lawyers, lawsuits, or angry ex-band members will stop me ever again from singing my songs."
