If you or someone you know are so creative and talented that you could build anything out of cardboard and duct tape, you've got to enter the Great Cardboard Boat Race! It is coming up at Kuehn Park Pool on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Boat check-in begins at 9 AM and the racing at 10 AM. It is completely free to participate, but you must be pre-registered. You can do that through July 28th online at Sioux Falls Parks using the activity number 160009.

Anyone age 7 and older can get in on the fun and there will be five age divisions. All boats have to be made out of only corrugated cardboard (waxed type is okay if you have it) and duct tape. No motors either, your boat has to have old-fashioned human power, provided by at least two people.

The Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation department is providing life jackets which must be worn by participants and swimsuits are also required. (That's right, no naked cardboard boat paddling!)

Your boat will be judged on creativity, sea-worthiness and of course the first to sink, with prizes in each category. So get registered, gather your cardboard and duct tape, along with friends and family and join in one of the wackiest, most fun events of the summer!

For more information go to Sioux Falls Parks online, follow them on Twitter, get updates on their Facebook page, or call 605-367-7665.
