Police say the father of the 2 year old had left his loaded handgun under a couch.

The mother and children were found inside of the vehicle unharmed.

The reward announcement comes on the anniversary of a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 27-year-old man.

Someone fired a series of gunshots at a Sioux Falls home early Tuesday morning injuring a 41-year-old woman who was sitting inside at the time of the incident.

The shooting that took place over the weekend in Sioux Falls is just another another in a series of homicides that has plagued the city so far in 2024.

Police still search for answers in a shooting that left one man dead and three others wounded on Sunday in Dunham Park on Sioux Falls westside.

The violent crime cases do not appear to be related.

Responding officers found six people who had been injured by gunfire.

Two officers found the woman and one deployed a pepper ball round. The second officer then fired their department-issued firearm.

The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, but later died. Officers at the scene were investigating the circumstances surrounding the child's death when they encountered a man with a gun.
