TYNDALL, S.D. (AP) — A 40-year-old Tabor man has been charged with first-degree rape of a child younger than 13 and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Yankton Press & Dakotan reports that Paul Michael Brewer was scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday at the Bon Homme County courthouse in Tyndall but a continuance was granted until July 5.

Court documents accuse Brewer of raping the child multiple times over a five-year period. He remains free on $5,000 bond but is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or family.

A message left for Brewer's attorney, Jerry Pollard, was not immediately returned.

Court documents say that the child told law enforcement about the alleged incidents on May 11 and was taken to a child advocacy center in Sioux Falls.
