Story of Two Missing South Dakota Teens Featured on TV Documentary
The case of two missing South Dakota teens will be the subject of an episode of the Investigation Discovery channel's show Gone. The episode that premieres Monday (July 31) will tell the story of Cheryl Miller and Pam Jackson.
Miller and Jackson went missing on their way to a party at a gravel pit in Union County in May 1971. The case remained unsolved for many years. Miller and Jackson were last seen in a 1960 Studebaker Lark.
In 2007 South Dakota's cold case unit indicted inmate Donald Lykken for the murder of the pair. Charges were dismissed when it came to light that Lykken's cellmate at the South Dakota Penitentiary made up the evidence that prompted the indictment.
In 2013 the remains of the girls were discovered in the Studebaker when drought conditions revealed the car buried in Brule Creek. The car had gone off the road in 1971.
Monday's episode of Gone on Investigation Discovery will explore the case. The Vermilion Plain Talk newspaper reports that the producers of the episode shot video of the area in the spring and spoke to Miller's sister Rita Allen.
