"Margaritaville" is a very popular song from singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffett. If there ever was a song that would define and artist's music and career, this is it.

Buffett wrote and recorded the song in 1977. The idea behind the song centers around two things.

First of all, a drink Buffett discovered at Lung's Cocina del Sur restaurant on Anderson Lane in Austin, Texas. And secondly the first huge surge of tourists who descended on Key West, Florida around that time.

Buffett wrote the song night at a friend's house in Austin, and finished it while spending time in Key West.

Named for the cocktail margarita, with lyrics reflecting a laid-back lifestyle in a tropical climate. The song is in the Grammy Hall of Fame for its cultural and historic significance.
