Steve Wariner is getting ready to release his 20th studio album. All Over the Map is due out on Oct. 28.

Wariner was heavily involved in many aspects of his newest project: He produced the 12-track album and showcases his talents on guitar, upright bass, drums and pedal and lap steel. Wariner wrote 10 of the album's songs, five of which are instrumentals.

On All Over the Map, Wairner pays tribute to his late mentor, Chet Atkins, with the song "CGP;" the track's title is derived from the nickname / certification that Atkins gave Wariner, "Certified Guitar Player." Warner receives help on the tune from Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles -- the only two other living people to have earned the CGP title from Atkins. The album's other tribute track is "When I Still Mattered to You," written by Wariner and the legendary Merle Haggard back in 1996; the two penned the song on a cruise ship, but it hasn't been recorded until now.

“Getting to play and record with these wonderfully creative people means the world to me ... Some I've collaborated with before, others ... well, it's pure bucket list for me!" Wariner says in a press release. "This project is the perfect example of what keeps me going ... what keeps me excited: traveling into territory I've never been to before. And there's lots of that here on this album."

All Over the Map also includes a guest appearance from Ricky Skaggs, who plays mandolin on "Down Sawmill Road," a song written about the street on which Wariner's mother grew up. Familial influence also rears its head on "Mr. Roy," penned in memory of Wariner's father, and "The Last Word," written by Wariner's son Ryan.

"It's hard to describe the joy I feel making music with my sons ... and family for that matter. Now I know how my father used to feel," Wariner continues. "I am so very proud of my musical roots and heritage."
