The Boot News Roundup: Lady Antebellum Are 2018 Tony Awards Nominees + More

The members of Lady Antebellum can officially add a Tony Awards nomination to their list of accolades: The country trio is nominated for their contribution to SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, which is up for Best Original Score. Lady A's song, titled "Chop to the Top," is one of many contributions to the musical from famous artists; Steven Tyler, David Bowie and Sara Bareilles are also among those who contributed songs to the musical's score. Lady Antebellum will find out if they're Tony Awards winners on June 10, when the 72nd annual Tony Awards ceremony will be held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Country artists made a big showing among the nominees for the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards. Maren Morris scored multiple all-genre category nods for "The Middle," her collaboration with Zedd and Grey. Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Lane, Thomas Rhett and Walker Hayes are nominated in the Play It Again! – Radio Disney Country Favorite Song category, along with Florida Georgia Line, for their collaboration with Bebe Rexha, "Meant to Be." FGL, Ballerini, Luke Bryan, Morris and Rhett are all nominated in the country-specific Favorite Artist category, while Carly Pearce, Devin Dawson, Jillian Jacqueline, Lanco and Jordan Davis round out the country-specific Best New Artist category. Iconic Tennessee-based guitar maker Gibson, the preferred guitar brand of many country icons, has filed for bankruptcy. According to the Tennesseean, the company owes $500 million in debt; however, a new loan of $135 million will keep Gibson afloat for the foreseeable feature. The company operates factories in both Nashville and Memphis, employing upwards of 875 people.

The iHeartRadio Music Festival is headed back to Las Vegas, Nev., in 2018, and Dustin Lynch is set to perform at the festival's Daytime Village stage. The event, set for Sept. 21 and 22 at Sin City's T-Mobile Arena, will also feature performances from Bobby Bones and the Raging Idiots, along with pop artists Dua Lipa and Greta Van Fleet, on the Daytime Village stage. The iHeartRadio Music Festival's main stage lineup will be announced at a later date.

Country artist Steve Wariner has been presented with a key to the city of McMinnville, Tenn. Wariner was presented with the honor in April, at a ceremony at the city's Park Theatre, which also hosted Wariner's concert benefiting the Citizens for Progress Scholarship. In addition to the key, Wariner also received a proclamation declaring an unnamed date as Steve Wariner Day, and paid a visit to the gravesite of Dottie West, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame Class of 2018, whom he credits with discovering him at the age of 17.

On Oct. 19, Rodney Crowell will lead the festivities for the second annual Heal the Music Day. The national music industry fundraiser benefits the Music Health Alliance, an organization that provides free assistance to members of the music community in helping them obtain access to often-life-saving medical treatment. For 2017's Heal the Music Day, a number of artists (Chris Stapleton, Gene Watson, John Prine, Keith Urban, Rory Feek and Emmylou Harris) pledged a percentage of their single-day revenues to the charity.
