Country Singer Steve Azar Makes Surprise Visit to Sioux Falls
It's not every day a country singer makes a surprise appearance in Sioux Falls. But some lucky students had the opportunity to meet a singer, songwriter, and now a young adult and children's author.
Grammy-nominated country singer Steve Azar made the trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to visit students at Christ the King Elementary School. What a wonderful opportunity for these Sioux Empire students!

Part of Bishop O'Gorman Schools, students at Christ the King Elementary School met Steve Azar to play some songs and to talk about his book "One Mississippi," which is inspired by his 2020 song. Christ the King Elementary School shared the exciting moment in a Facebook post.
The album My Mississippi Reunion from Steve Azar is in collaboration with blues drummer Cedric Burnside. This project is unique because every song references Mississippi, whether it's a city or a special feature of the state.
Steve Azar is proud to be from the state of Mississippi, and his song "One Mississippi" is now "the newly proclaimed official state song of Mississippi." Being the state song, it feels appropriate to have a fun children's book with it as a bonus. His book "One Mississippi" is the #1 book for young adults/children in Mississippi. In fact, Steve has been visiting schools across the country since his book was released. That's pretty awesome!
There is a cute video I found on Steve Azar's Instagram page of the kids at Christ the King Elementary School
Next time you're in the 605, Steve, please play a show! We'd love to have you back.
