The physics, chemistry and civil engineering departments of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology will be hosting their own version of myth busters on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.

That day, both professors and students will do their best Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage impersonations as they participate in an event in which they'll attempt to bust science myths.

The event will be free and open to the public. It's all part of the schools 2015 Engineers Week.

During the week-long celebration, dozens of middle and high school students are expected to unite on the Rapid City campus for tours and demonstrations by academic departments.

They'll also be a visit to the Museum of Geology and a NASA-related presentation.
