Sioux Falls residents are digging out from the snow storm on this Wednesday morning..

Meteorologist Mike Gillispie of the National Weather Service says the Sioux Falls area received six to eight inches. Lighter amounts on the north edge of town. Heavier amounts on the south end.

“The heavier snow seems to be done now. But, we are going to see some light snow continuing through the morning hours and possibly into the early afternoon. Additional snowfall will probably be an inch or inch and a half before it winds up. We will also be looking at some pretty strong winds (15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph out of the north northwest).”

Right now, the Sioux Falls street crews are making progress cleaning the snow from the emergency snow routes.

“We are on the emergency routes right now and are about three fourth’s done,” according to Cam Larson of Sioux Falls Streets.

“We are in the process of putting salt down. It’s pretty slick underneath the snow. Our crews will be cleaning the streets around the schools in Sioux Falls cleaned up this morning.”

Once the emergency routes are done, Larson says the clean up crews will be in the residential areas.
