A man died when he lost control of his vehicle on an icy overpass on I-29 Monday (November 6) shortly after 2:00 PM.

Tony Mangan, information officer with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, described the crash in a released statement.

"A 2007 Ford Econoline E150 truck was northbound on Interstate 29 traveling over the 12th Street Bridge when the vehicle hit ice," says Mangan. "The driver lost control, the vehicle went into the east ditch and rolled."

The driver, a 56 year old man suffered minor injuries and the passenger, a 64 year old man died of his injuries. Both the passenger and driver were wearing seat belts.

No citations have been issued.
