Sioux Falls Parade of Lights Kicks Off Your Holiday Season in Style
If you've never attended the Parade of Lights in Downtown Sioux Falls, more than likely you are in the minority, as the parade has entertained tens of thousands of people over the 24 years it has been in existence! This hometown event has become a destination tradition for families all over the Sioux Empire as a way to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend and kickoff the Christmas holiday season.
The 24th Annual Parade of Lights (Friday, November 27, 2015) begins at 14th Street and Phillips at 7:30 PM and continues down Phillips Avenue to 5th Street. There will be no parking on Phillips Avenue from 14th to 5th Street from 5:30 to 9:30 PM. Free parking is available after 5 PM in the 1st Avenue parking ramp and other private lots and ramps too. As far as driving around downtown Sioux Falls after 5:15 PM, I wouldn't, as street closures begin then. Streets will re-open after the parade around 8:45 or 9 PM.
There is also a Parade of Lights After-Party and Award ceremony going on at the Holiday Inn City Centre's Pub Terrace right after the parade with music from Elizabeth Hunstead, free cookies and cider, as well as a cash bar for adult beverages.
