SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Sioux Falls man has pleaded no contest to an animal abuse charge after a video posted on Facebook in which he can be seeing slamming and strangling two dogs was brought up to the attention of authorities.

The Argus Leader reports 37-year-old Nicholas Snowden has entered his plea to felony cruelty to an animal.

Court records show the Sioux Falls Humane Society reported the video to animal control in July. The man who posted the video then gave officers the name of the woman who owns the dogs and identified Snowden.

Officers found the dogs living with different ailments, including burns and a broken foot, at the woman's home. She told them Snowden, her ex-boyfriend, caused the dogs' injuries.

Snowden later told officers the video "looked horrible," but that its angle made the incident look a lot worse.
