Not only are they the people you never want to see, they are also the people that you are the most happy to see - during emergency situations. They are the professionals that have been trained, certified and registered by the state to help those in need with expert emergency medical care, and are deserving of having their own week to recognize just how important they are. That's why Sunday, May 15 through Saturday, May 21, 2016 is National EMS week.

Even though your work day may be a bit "routine", there is no such thing as a typical work day for Emergency Medical Service professionals. On television, viewers will see EMS workers grabbing their medical equipment and rushing into a dangerous situation, but while this important profession can be stressful and fast-paced, these professionals are also trained to assess the situation, remain calm and handle all types of calls safely.

For those that have had to rely on the help from an EMS professional and those that take comfort in knowing they will be there if help is needed, the EMS Strong website would like to remind everyone that EMS professionals....

are called upon to help others through one of the most frightening times of their lives. Every day, you’re called upon to provide a sense of security and relief during chaotic and challenging situations. Every day, you’re called upon to do the work that only a select few can do. Every day, you’re called to care.

Because of the sacrifices and risks that the EMS face day to day, please take some time to not only remember how important these professionals are and the commitments they have made, but also thank them for all they do in the community!
