It wasn't too long ago that country singer, Sam Hunt released his rendition of Garth Brooks hit, "What She's Doing Now." Hunt posted a little snippet of Garth's song on his Instagram page.  The classic tune was almost unrecognizable, but it fits Sam Hunt's "experimental" style.

During a live performance from the Red Rocks with no audience, Sam Hunt told the story about why he decided to cover  "What She's Doing Now."  The country singer explained that he was feeling "nostalgic," and it was a song that he grew up listening to.

After teasing fans with a sound bite of the song, Sam Hunt performed the full version of "What She's Doing Now."  The reviews?  Pretty mixed.

Here's the deal: It's pretty awesome to be able to perform at the Red Rocks with or without fans, especially during a global pandemic.  Probably now more than ever musicians are experimenting with different styles and covering songs they normally wouldn't do.

Some fans could not wait for the full version of the song to be released.  Others were not so pleased with Sam's take on one of Garth Brooks’ most popular songs.  In my opinion, I respect this musical decision.  It takes a lot of guts to sing any song from Garth Brooks.

This isn't Sam Hunt's first time taking on a country classic.  Hunt recently covered Webb Pierce's "There Stands the Glass," which was a chart-topping hit in 1953.

What do you think of Sam Hunt's performance?  Do you admire Hunt's tenacity, or should he have left this song alone?
