Roselyn Shooting Suspect Faces New Charges After Victim Dies

ROSLYN, S.D. (AP) — The suspect in a shooting that happened in Roselyn last month is facing new charges, including premeditated murder.

The new charges against 44-year-old Roslyn resident Jason Lewandowski come days after the man whom authorities say he injured, 33-year-old Jeremy Hendrickson, died at a hospital.

The office of South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says a grand jury has indicted Lewandowski on one count each of premeditated first-degree murder, first-degree murder while perpetration or attempt to perpetrate burglary, commission of a felony while armed with a firearm, and first-degree burglary.

Authorities say Lewandowski entered Hendrickson's home on Nov. 20 and shot him. Lewandowski was arrested after leading officers on a chase that ended outside an Aberdeen hospital.

It wasn't immediately clear if Lewandowski has an attorney who could comment on his case.
