Spring planting is underway in South Dakota. However, another week of warm, dry conditions didn't help soil moisture.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop progress report that 17 percent of the spring wheat crop is in.

Ten percent of the oats and seven percent of the barley is in the ground.

Seeding of all three crops is on pace or ahead of the average.

Topsoil moisture supplies statewide are rated 67 percent short or very short. Subsoil moisture is rated 62 percent short to very short.
