Several south side residents were looking for a few answers over the the weekend as to what kind of animal can gut a porch pumpkin in city limits in broad daylight?

The answer is simple if you have kids. They were quick to point out that the gourd-eating demons are squirrel-zombies.

They're half right. Squirrels can do this, but we just haven't caught them in the act yet.

Getting tired of cleaning up the mess every day some residents resorted to foam fake pumpkins. The same thing occurred. Foam and plastic bits greeted the homeowners upon arriving home from work.

So without visual proof, maybe the kids are on to something. After all, 'tis the season for zombies.

Any better ideas?
