PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Board on Geographic Names will meet next week to review proposed new names for some Black Hills sites that contain the word "Negro."

The names are considered offensive, and guidelines established by the U.S. Board of Geographic Names require that new names be found.

The sites are near Wind Cave in Custer County, near Tinton in Lawrence County and near Medicine Mountain in Pennington County.

The board will meet Tuesday in Pierre. People have until Saturday to submit their suggested replacement names.

Suggestions can be sent to the South Dakota Board of Geographic Names, Department of Tribal Relations, 302 E. Dakota Ave., Pierre, S.D. 57501.
