Nordstrom Is Selling $85 Rocks In Case You Have Money to Waste
Nordstrom Rack has given way to Nordstrom rock.
In "there's a sucker born every minute" news, the department store is selling a stone wrapped in a leather pouch for $85. Yeah, 85 bucks. For a stupid little rock. You've gotta have stones to demand that kind of money, right?
Nordstrom explains the stone, which would make a great Christmas present if you're just not content going outside and grabbing some random rock from the street, can serve many purposes:
A paperweight? A conversation piece? A work of art? It's up to you, but this smooth Los Angeles-area stone—wrapped in rich, vegetable-tanned American leather secured by sturdy contrast whipstitching— is sure to draw attention wherever it rests. A traditional hardening process gives the leather a beautiful ombré effect. Like all Made Solid pieces, this one is cut, shaped, sewn and finished by hand in artist Peter Maxwell's Los Angeles studio. Using vintage leatherworking tools and traditional saddle-stitching techniques, Maxwell aims to create beautiful designs that embody both simplicity and functionality, and that develop rich character and patina over time.
That's great and all, but we can't get past the very simple fact IT'S A ROCK! Of course, if $85 is too rich for your blood -- and really at that price it should be -- you can save some green and get a smaller one for a-not-as-absurd-but-still-absurd $65.
Then again, if you're struggling for the ideal gift and the Hatchimals are still sold out, then perhaps these designer rocks will do the trick.
