Whether or not you agree with Cliven Bundy of Mesquite, Nevada, you have to admit it made for a pretty interesting watching over the past few days. It sounds like the story isn't over. Yet.

Bundy is the Nevada rancher who, for the past 20 years has grazed his cattle on public land in Nevada. The State wants back pay for grazing fees that  Bundy doesn't believe he owes. Things got a little 'wild and western' last week when authorities  swooped in with helicopters and rounded up some of Bundy's stock. Bundy wasn't happy with it. Neither were his friends and supporters.

No, Bundy didn't blink.

Neither did a small army of friends and groups that came in to Bundy's aid. Oh, and yes, they were armed. Quite well.

You can check out the entire article from CBS News here.

The fight between Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management widened into a debate about states' rights and federal land-use policy.

Bundy does not recognize federal authority on land he insists belongs to Nevada. The debate over who is right became so heated that a self-described armed local militia has come to his aide.

The entire post from CBS News is an interesting read. Check it out here. By the way, they backed out. Stood down. Pulled out. For now. This is one story that most likely will continue to boil under the surface. And it boils on so...many...levels.

Here's where I'm at with the story. I'm learning more every day on it. A couple things come to mind. They are a couple things you learn while growing up in rural South Dakota and growing up on a farm/ranch.

1. Don't torque a rancher off, (especially one located out in the backwoods.)

2. Don't torque a rancher off over and over for 20 years. Get someone out there 19 years ago to talk to the guy.

3. Don't torque a rancher off who has friends with firearms.

The story of Cliven Bundy continues. Kind of funny how, it's 'out there' but you don't hear too much about it. I'll be following it close. And learning more as I go.

Do you think Bundy was right in what he did and in what he's doing?
