Agricultural Heritage Museum Exhibit Celebrates Sheep Production
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum will debut an exhibit on sheep production on Friday.
"The Unspun Tale: Sheep in South Dakota" kicks off with a free public reception from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday. Attendees will be able to sample lamb hors d'oeurves and other refreshments while watching demonstrations of spinning, knitting, weaving and fiber arts by the Brookings Fiberworks Guild.
South Dakota ranks fifth in U.S. sheep production, and the museum notes that the often-overlooked industry plays a vital role in South Dakota's agricultural economy. Staff gathered oral histories, family photographs and artifacts from across the state to explore the topic.
The exhibit will be on display until the end of the year.
