Miranda Lambert and Dolly Parton Duet on ‘Dumb Blonde’ for ‘Dumplin” [Listen]
Miranda Lambert and Dolly Parton come together for a re-recording of the legend's iconic 1967 hit, "Dumb Blonde." The song (new version) is featured in The Dumplin’ Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. It is one of several of Parton's duets featured in the upcoming Netflix film Dumplin'.
2018's "Dumb Blonde" is traditional, with striking pedal steel accompaniment and a driving beat that begs to be danced to. Plus, it's as country as all get out in subject matter — a song about a woman who's confronting an ex who did her wrong.
"When you left you thought I'd sit / And you thought I'd wait / And you thought I'd cry / You called me a dumb blonde / Ah, but somehow I lived through it / And you know if there's one thing this blonde has learned / Blondes have more fun," Lambert and Parton sing at the chorus.

The Dumplin' soundtrack features newly recorded collaborations of some of Parton's most popular songs, as well as six new original compositions. The new tracks were co-written by Parton and Grammy nominee Linda Perry, who also co-produced the soundtrack. Other collaborators include Sia, Mavis Staples, Elle King, Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent.
The upcoming Netflix movie Dumplin', out Dec. 7, stars Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald. The storyline follows a plus-size teen (Macdonald) who causes a revolt in her small Texas town by entering a pageant and ultimately shaking up the status quo. Aniston plays Macdonald's mom, who is a former beauty queen. The film was directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses).
