Minnehaha County Studying 10 Rural Intersections for Danger
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Minnehaha County Commission has approved spending more than $40,000 to study 10 rural intersections that are becoming more dangerous and congested.
Highway Superintendent DJ Buthe told the commission recently that some of the intersections have some safety concerns. The Argus Leader reports that improving the intersections could involve adding lanes, better signage or traffic signals.
Assistant Highway Superintendent Shannon Schultz says the county's 2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan identified alarming predictions for the intersections. The county department is expected to learn the results of the study by March.
