FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A South Dakota-based cable company is expanding into North Dakota's largest city.

Sioux Falls-based Midcontinent Communications will begin offering cable TV, broadband Internet and telephone services in Fargo next year, giving residents of that city a second cable company option.

Cable One is the only cable provider in Fargo, which has about 110,000 people. The company tells The Forum it welcomes the competition.

Midcontinent's expansion is to begin in the spring, pending city approval. It will cost the company about $55 million.

Midcontinent has more than 300,000 customers in 335 communities in the Dakotas, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
