His is among the most legendary names in country music history. In fact, you don't even have to say his name. You can just say...

Merle Haggard has not only sung and written many of the greatest songs in country music history, his life is a country song in itself. In fact, it would make a great movie.

Now 78 years old, the Hag is still out on the road filling arena's and grandstand's around the nation. And this American Icon is still 'telling it like it is'.

The Hag spoke to Inforum.com and talked about his take on the sound of 'New Country'.

"I can't tell what they're doing," says The Hag. "They're talking about screwing on a pickup tailgate and things of that nature. I don't find no substance. Nobody even attempts to write a melody. It's more of that kids stuff. It's hot right now, but I'll tell you what, it's cooling off."
