Kyle Larson Wins NASCAR Race at Michigan International Speedway
Chalk up another win for the kid. "California Kid" Kyle Larson, won his second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race of the season Sunday.
This time the win came at Michigan International Speedway. Larson was victorious due to a series of brilliant restarts.
What a season for this young driver. He has the two victories, plus five second place finishes.
Sunday's win at Michigan not only marks his second win of 2017, but it's his third career Cup win. A couple interesting facts are, both wins this season have come from starting on the pole, and all three career wins have happened on two mile tracks.
Larson's roots are sprint car racing on dirt tracks. In recent years he raced at a track here in Sioux Falls. Here's a video of me talking with him when he was here at that time:
It made a great Father's Day for the race winner. Not only was Larson's dad at the track, but also his own 2-year old son.
Larson got to the finish line .993 seconds ahead of Chase Elliott, who, like third-place finisher Joey Logano, felt he got the most out of his car. Denny Hamlin restarted beside Larson on Lap 196, but lost the third-place battle to Logano. Jamie McMurray, Larson’s teammate, ran fifth. See where your driver finished.
