Iowa has a long history in auto racing, but the top series of NASCAR has never ventured into the Hawkeye State, until now.

Pollex, who was Truex Jr.'s partner for nearly 20 years, died of ovarian cancer on Sunday (Sept. 17.)

He feels "incredibly blessed" to have had the career that he's had.

She "had an infectious personality and could light up any room," he says.

"What a moment," Johnson said on Instagram.

"He was thoughtful. He was someone who was able to pick up on the needs of others and extend goodness in any turn that he could."

Including Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin and both Busch brothers.

There was an immediate outpouring of support for the Johnson family.
