John Michael Montgomery Cancels Shows Due to Illness: ‘My Apologies to Everyone’
John Michael Montgomery is rescheduling a few upcoming tour dates due to illness.
The singer turned to Facebook on Wednesday (Sept. 6) to notify fans that he has to reschedule shows in Lake Charles, La., and the Colorado County Fair in Columbus, Texas, on Sept. 8 and 9, respectively, because of laryngitis caused by vocal fatigue and inflamed vocal cords.
"Unfortunately due to vocal fatigue and inflamed vocal cords I have developed some laryngitis causing me to reschedule this upcoming weekends shows," he writes on Facebook. "My apologies to everyone."
Montgomery's signature hits include "I Swear" and "Be My Baby Tonight." "I Swear" landed in the No. 29 spot on Taste of Country's list of the Top 100 Country Love Songs. John's brother, Eddie, is one half of Montgomery Gentry.
In 2015, Montgomery re-released his emotional song and a music video for “A Daddy’s Prayer," written after the tragic events of 9/11. “I’ve been wanting to do a video on this song ever since I wrote it after 9/11, because its story line is about how our lives would be forever changed," he says.
The "I Can Love You Like That Singer" has tour dates lined up that keep him on the road through December 2017.
